A glaring emblem

Greetings comrades,

“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.”
― Pablo Picasso

As with the Internet, you can never be absolutely sure whether Pablo Picasso has said these exact words, nevertheless they remain pertinent and true. My diary for this course is a string of patched drawings and attempted paintings I am currently creating in Paris. It is also interlaced with my reflections, thoughts and emotions I’m experiencing throughout the process. I am by no means an artist. This is the 5th and final year of my Engineering syllabus. But it’s quite nice to evade Dirac’s bra-kets along with Schrodinger’s indecisive cat in order to escape to a world of liberties guided only by sense and the tip of a brush.

“I don't paint dreams or nightmares, I paint my own reality.”
― Frida Kahlo

Three months since I’ve been living in Paris and I found inspiration in every nook and corner in this crowded, restless city. The tempo of life here is of a different order of magnitude, that which I have never seen elsewhere. By simple extension, my daily life grew to be more hectic. Hence, a chaos is brewing, that which I would like to channel, externalize and shape-shift into concrete imageries. Or at least attempt to.

“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.”
― Vincent van Gogh

I hope to paint those dreams in color and may words carry out the thoughts that fail to come forth via my brush.

Tony
